The device scanned a 240-million pixel image using 13 light spectrums, including ultra-violet and infrared.
The resulting ultra-high resolution photograph of 150,000 dots per inch yielded a reproduction of the "Mona Lisa's" face magnified 24 times. And there Cotte found the evidence he sought -- a single brushstroke of a single hair above the left brow.

In the midwest we have been blanketed with snow again today. It makes me want to crawl underneath a blanket and not come out until May. My Aunt Mary taught me how to crochet many years ago--I made this when I was in high school. I'm glad to see knitting and crochet come back into vogue.

Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?
The IF theme this week is excess. I set out to take a picture of every single clock in the house. I missed several--forgot about the basement, didn't go into our son's room to get two in his room. I didn't count the clocks in our cordless phones or our PCs or the timer on our Christmas tree lights. Photoshop manipulation.

First there was the two month long invasion of the 17 year cicadas. At first they were cute . . . and then there were millions of them . . . all screeching their mating song . . . then there were itch mites . . . then there was hot humid weather . . . followed by days and days of torrential rains . . . followed by mosquitoes . . . followed by more mosquitoes . . . followed by more hot humid weather . . . it's now October 7th and we've had the air conditioning going full blast for the past week! I want some decent fall weather!!]]>
