You Can't Always Get What You Want

20070831.jpg I heard this old Rolling Stones song on the radio and the lyrics were swimming around in my head. The bar code triangle fell out of the Newsweek I was reading at lunch, so the doodle took shape from that.

teal a la Klimt

lori-portrait-klimt-doodle.jpg Teal has always been one of my favorite colors. My eyes are actually a dull blue/gray, but when I wear a teal top, it makes my eyes stand out. Once when I still wore glasses, someone at work came up to me and asked me if were wearing tinted contact lenses. I played around with this image of my taken on my birthday wearing a teal dress. I've been fascinated with Klimt's work lately, so I patterned this after one of his portraits of Adele. On top of the big screen TV I stood in front of was a small picture of me as a child standing standing in front of a radio singing. I already had a scan of the childhood portrait so I superimposed that in the image. I had a lot of fun in Photoshop with this prompt from d'blogala

Solvitur Ambulando

_20070817.jpg
I was in a crabby mood from the get go. The recent hot humid weather was beginning to life. I was able to get out at lunch and take a 20 minute walk in the sunshine and was refreshed.

Monkey Face

_doodle06112007.jpg

This is the original orientation of this doodle. However, if you turn it upside down, it looks like a monkey sticking its tongue out at you, doesn't it?

Newsweek Collage

_journalcollage.jpg
I started this journal book last March and it is one page away from being completed. At the beginning of the book, I started a collage of phrases snipped from the Newsweek I bring to read at lunch.

Some recent journal page scans

tempus-fugit.jpg journaldoodle.jpg

Tempus Fugit started in the summer, but I finished doodling it and coloring it recently. I hadn't heard the Rolling Stones song, "Time Waits for No one" in years, then I heard it twice on the radio in my car in one day. The lyrics were hanging around in my head--they seemed a natural fit to finish off thepage.
