I've had the intoxicating smell of fresh lilacs this past week on my desk at work courtesy of a co-worker who shared them from her yards. Ours didn't really come in this year, and I don't know why--neighbors a few doors down had theirs.

Even though the French term "L'esprit de l'escalier" means "spirit of the staircase" wikipedia states that it is not used in France. Michael Quinion has a more detailed description of how this term came to be used. Quick illo using Dover clip art in Photoshop.

This entry for Illustration Friday started out as a doodle last fall while I was taking a 7-Habits Discussion class at work. I redid the concept in Photoshop, since I didn't like the way the doodle turned out after I watercolored it. I had come across the Victor Frankl quotation in the Covey book at that time and it hit home.
