My Puppies Are Barking

illofrifeet.jpg

This was a recent entry for Illustration Friday.

My grandmother’s feet always hurt her. She wore a 6 triple E shoe and had bunions. Her feet had become mis-shapen due—to years of wearing pointy toe shoes in the 1920s and 30s. When I was a child, I was both fascinated and scared by her feet. I had my own flirtation with pointy toe shoes, but the image of my grandmother’s deformed feet always stayed with me. Is it my imagination or is this generation’s crop of pointy toe shoes the absolute worst?
